Question

Can't install any drivers.

Mar 25, 2015 4:56AM PDT

My computer is an ASUS ROG G750JS with windows 8 installed and as the title says I can't install any drivers, I've tried with drivers for two different network adapters as well as the drivers for the laptop's own trackpad. I was tried installing the drivers for both network drivers via device manager and both times I got an error saying that "the system cannot find the file specified." With the trackpad drivers I used the installer that they came with and the error it displayed simply said there was "a problem."

This looks to come with all the OS and drivers ready to use. Is there more to this story?

The problem is that I can't install drivers and would very much like to be able to do so. It's preventing me from being able to install and use VPNs because I can't install the drivers necessary for their network adapters, I also wouldn't mind getting the use of my trackpad back as I uninstalled it's drivers in an effort to see if the problem stretched to all drivers or not.

VPN is well.

It IS a hardware driver issue as it is affecting all drivers. As I've said twice now I am also unable to install the drivers for my laptop's trackpad.

Time to refresh or restore that laptop.

Out of the box those drivers should be working so back to stock.

Some of those VPNs are infested with malware. Be sure you get good ones.

If your internet works (e.g. you can use this forum) your network drivers are fine.
If your trackpad works, the trackpad drivers are fine.

If they don't work go back to factory conditions (that is: reset or refresh Windows, so the laptop is - softwarewise - as it was when you bought it). Then try again to install your VPN software. Should work, shouldn't it, if it works with everybody who has Windows 8.

All drivers that are already installed are working fine I just can't install any new ones. I'd prefer it if I could instead find the source of the problem and whether or not there are any fixes for rather than just resetting everything. Also, the software is working fine, the problem is specifically with installing drivers, any and all drivers including, as I've said before, the drivers for the trackpad.

If it works with everybody, it will work with you after a refresh. That's much easier and much faster then searching for the reason of your current issue. But, well, it's your choice how to handle it. We can only advise.
