and see if there is a way to change the password. On many computers you get there by pressing the delete key repeatedly while it is booting up.
If it was me, I'd be formating the hard drive and reinstall the operating system. Who knows what is lurking on that computer. I'm surprised that wasn't done prior to it being sold. Do you have all the necessary CDs?
I bought a computer from a consignment shop and lo and behold I met up with a users name and password. This is Windows NT workshop OS on a Compaq Presario with a CMOS date of year 1999. I could not 'escape' or 'cancel out' the welcome screen as can be done for ONE TIME in Windows 98. Is there ANYTHING can be done, (short of reformatting this drive, relocating jumper cables, etc.) to get me in to make the necessary changes to the user account, password, etc.?
