Can't get soundbar to output audio from my tv

I recently just got a new Yamaha YHT-S400 soundbar. I hooked up the speaker and the amp successfully (the thing properly plays the radio), but I just cannot get it to work with my Sylvania LC320SLX TV.

I believe I have all the cables properly hooked up, and the TV and soundbar are connected via an HDMI cord. However, the sound continues to be played through the TV's speakers, even after I switch the TV's sound mode over to "Ext. Amp."

Sounds like another ARC failure.

And no, I have no cure for fixing ARC.
