http://www.techsupportforum.com/security-center/general-computer-security/258012-solved-aol-corrupt-unreadable-message.html I see CHKDSK did help.
But if you can't get chkdsk to run without the READ ONLY message I suggest you fix that first then and if the AOL software can't be fixed I'd uninstall AOL again and then:
--> Kill it with HIJACKTHIS. (google hijackthis to find it)
In hijackthis I would scan my pc and then look for the AOL entries and delete those if I want AOL gone.
I keep getting the following pop-up message on my desktop screen and can't get rid of it..........
"AOL.SUITE FRAMEWORK.AOL.AOLSYSTRAY SERVICE ~ 1412575586:AOLSOFTWAR" (no e showing)
and below above message it says this.........
"C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\*****(name)\LOCAL SETTINGS\APPLICATION DATA\AOL\USER PROFILES\1230068219\***** (name)\METRICS\CMLS_MS.TLV
IS CORRUPT AND UNREADABLE. PLEASE RUN THE CHKDSK UTILITY."
I ran the chkdsk from the start menu and a pop-up appeared that said "read only" and it went through a process. However after I did that 3 or 4 times the pop-up message continues to appear on my desktop.
I even deleted AOL and reinstalled it thinking that might do the trick but it didn't.
I have Windows XP.
Does anyone have any suggestions how to get rid of this pop-up?
Thanks for any and all suggestions
