George, We Need More Information
Feb 23, 2006 9:24AM PST

Although your profile states that you're using a Windows XP PRO computer, you need to tell us more about what you're trying to do.. What are the operating systems on the other computers you're trying to connect to? WHERE are these other computers and are are you trying to connect over the internet or through a network setup? The more information you give us, the better informed our answer will be.

Do you have "Remote Desktop" installed on all computers that you're trying to connect to? Have you disable all firewalls?

Hope this helps and let us know more.

Grif

Which admin name and password?
Feb 24, 2006 10:09AM PST

If you're sure the firewall is not misconfigured, then my next thought would be: Are you putting in the user name and password of an administrator account that is on the remote computer, or putting in your user name and password that you are logged in on, on the computer you are on?

By default, the user name field comes up showing the name you are logged in under on that computer. Some people don't realize you have to change it, unless, of course, you also have an account on the remote computer with the exact same user name and password.
