Can't get out of 16 bit color mode

I noticed my comp froze up on me two days ago. After a manual restart it came back in the 16 bit color mode. I've tried to put it back into the 256 mode, but it always comes back in 16.

Are you sure you didn't just click apply, and then cancel. Try clicking ok, if that's true. Otherwise, it could be your gfx card overheating or something.

I've tried switching away from 16 more than once. So something is overheating? That sounds great...

If you have the mainboard cd, it has the driver to reinstate all colours, I had the same problem, insert cd and follow instructions.
