Question

Can't get HDMI hookup to Vizio HDTV from laptop

by rwmagill / September 6, 2011 3:36 AM PDT

HDMI to Vizio 1080p HDTV HDMI ports just give "Green Screen" or blank screen from new HP Laptop. Tried other HDTV (Samsung) and it worked fine. Any ideas? Vizio VL420M Can you upgrade Firmware on HDTV's? Would the HDMI cable possibly be problem? Tried 2 different cables. Are the newer High Speed cables te answer?

I can't see where this HDTV worked with other than this laptop. Could the hdtv be broke?

Don't think you will via HDMI. Looking at the TV connectivity, it looks like there is a RGB port (computer monitor). Hopefully, your notebook has a RGB out to connect to a computer monitor. If so, and you want to connect the notebook, you'll have to go out and get a RGB cable. Also, I don't know if your notebook has analog (RCA) audio out because the only way you'll get sound is to connect the two via analog cables under the RGB port on the TV. If your notebook has SVHS output, the Vizio also SHVS in and you can try that. If you go this way, still need the audio connection.
