Can't find any web pages

Nov 29, 2003 5:35AM PST

Win 98.

Okay, after removing spyware/hijackers from my daughter's computer (link to other thread below) I now find that while it will connect to the Internet okay, no web pages can be found using Opera, IE or Mozilla. I just get a "webpage cannot be found on the network..." message no matter what site I try for or which browser I use. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Should I still be looking at a malware issue? I'd really like to fix this without re-formatting.

My next move was going to be uninstalling/reinstalling Dial Up Networking, but I get the feeling that might be a waste of time. I've reinstalled Mozilla to no effect.

I don't suppose there's any way to go back further than a couple of days with SCANREG /RESTORE?

Thanks.

Yes, lspfix was the answer though I got to it the long way around. Turned out Webhancer was the culprit. Did a search on that and found out about lspfix.

I also deleted IE Driver which is also spyware from the registry. Now all seems well, but I noticed several folders in the Registry tree that were leftovers from spyware that AdAware took care of. Cydoor, BargainBuddy and others. I'm not sure if I should delete them or leave them alone.
