Can't dowload new Avira Antivir Personal

by jacquesd845 / May 4, 2009 2:05 AM PDT

Dear Avira,
I tried without success to download the latest version of Avira AntiVir Personal It seems to be a MIME file and Microsoft replied on my computer screen that it did not know how to deal with that file. Can you point me in the right direction?

Thank you,
Jacques D.

Here's the link for the actual download page so others can try it:

The name of the file is: avira_antivir_personal_en

The file is from: from

Windows tells me that it does not recognize this MIME type of file (MIME Type: application/x-msdownload), and that the description is unknown.

Let me know how I can download that file.

Thanks, Jacques.

Save the download file to your desktop and when you do, give it a new name ending in ".exe". I just had the same issue and that worked like a charm.

I had the same problem as the original poster, and your advice did the trick.
