Can't Decide on which laptop

Nov 15, 2009 5:02PM PST

Yo all i'm looking to get my first laptop most likely will use it for gaming although the only games i'll probabley be playing on it is sc2 and diablo 3 when they come out i've narrowed it down to 2 asus ones.

ASUS G Series G51Vx-X3A Intel Core 2 Duo P8700(2.53GHz) 15.6" 4GB Memory 320GB HDD DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M ... - Retail
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
CPU Type: Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 2.53G
Screen: 15.6"
Memory Size: 4GB DDR2
Hard Disk: 320GB
Optical Drive: DVD Super Multi
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M
Video Memory: 1GB VRAM DDR3
Model #: G51Vx-X3A

OR

ASUS N61Vn-A2 Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000(2.00GHz) 16" 4GB Memory 320GB HDD BD Combo NVIDIA GeForce GT 240M NoteBook - Retail
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium
CPU Type: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000 2.0G
Screen: 16"
Memory Size: 4GB DDR3
Hard Disk: 320GB
Optical Drive: BD Combo
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 240M
Video Memory: 1GB DDR3 VRAM
Model #: N61Vn-A2

Although i really like the look of the 51vx looks like the only thing going for it is the graphics card is this a no brainer. Looking for something under 1600 and i'm a little shallow i want it to look like a gaming laptop>.< any other recommendations appreciated...

That DDR2 looks dated.

The unit with DDR2 looks a little dated. Almost all the units I see today have DDR3 so maybe check around if they updated that model. Both are gamer laptops with all the usual issues of heat and shorter than average laptop life span.

The better video card may give it the edge in gaming but my bet is these two will be so close that one will win a test then the other will win.

So close that I might decide on price alone.
