Can't cut/copy/paste

by LEnzel / March 21, 2010 8:29 PM PDT

I have a 2.5 year old Dell Inspiron 1520 running Windows Vista Home Premium using IE 7.0. Suddenly, I cannot cut/copy paste. Something I cut/copied earlier gets hung up and it is the only thing I can paste. The only solution is to reboot. How do I fix this?

Rebooting would wipe out ALL previous copies

There is nothing that would remain from a previous copy if you have rebooted. There is something else wrong. You are pointing fingers to something that is not related.

A side note, why are you using IE7 on Vista, or anywhere else, for that matter? IE8 is a quicker, better, more secure browser. (I am sure others will soon chime in and tell you to now ever use IE any version, I won't. I like IE. But I would update to IE8. Not that has anything to do with your current problem, though.)

Copying and pasting

Try rebooting. I also have problems with copy and paste. I think it has something to do with the orbit downloader getting in the way or something. Sometimes when I have problems I have to copy multiple times and sometimes I do this by holding down the left mouse buton and dragging and then clicking the right mouse button and copy.

The other way to try copying is using control c to copy and control v to paste.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
