Question

Can't Connect To Servers Other Than MMO's and Browsers.

Mar 13, 2015 10:13PM PDT

Can anyone help me? This problem started on the 19th of February 2015.
I get can not connect to server errors whenever I try to connect to any moba game that connects to other people as well as teamspeak and other various programs, but MMO and browsers have all the internet they need. Keep in mind I have tried alot of troubleshoots. I've taken down all my firewalls, ran clean boot, messed with my dns and port forwarding. I thought it wasn't a big deal, that I would just stop playing that game, but I'm finding more and more programs that wont work. please help. thank you.

Re: cannot connect

The very first thing to do: try it with a different PC/laptop, or a different OS (a Linux live disk). Then you'll know it it's an issue of the router/modem or the PC.
If it's specific for this PC/OS-combination, go back to factory conditons.
If it's the router, reset that or use another one.

Im running windowz 7
comcast connection but i already talk to comcast person who helped me do alot more troubleshooting than i imagined. It didnt help. He was very helpful and knowledgeable about the issue but he said it was nothing to do on comcast's end.

If it worked on your PC until a month ago ...
Mar 14, 2015 11:34PM PDT

and it still works in your house/office on a Mac (you didn't tell where that Mac of your friend was located), then clearly it isn't a comcast issue. Then go back on your PC to a state before Februari 19. That's why you make the occasional image backup, isn't it?

Answer
So you have a working Internet connection.

But the MMOs and BROWSERS FAIL?

This sounds like what Norton or Kapersky do when they expire. It's all over the web so I won't duplicate that talk. My opinion is it's thuggish behavior.

Be sure the time/date is set right too.

Other av's can do this.
Mar 15, 2015 2:03AM PDT

I leave it to folk to know their av. We know Norton started blocking web browsers then Kap and I hear others.

For example some do this when you select "Maximum Security." All folk new to PCs would select that.

There's a lot of malware/other things that can cause this. There's your ISP too. Some block access to game servers but web browsers tell me it's something else.

Keep writing and let's see if anything pops up. Remember Avira won't find most malware. Grif has a list of apps to scan with at link -> http://forums.cnet.com/7726-6122_102-5509131.html?tag=posts;msg5509131

yea yea no?
Mar 16, 2015 9:16AM PDT

i only have avira and malwarebytes as well as adwcleaner. i turned off the firewall for avira, my windows firewall, and my router firewall. I have also talked with my isp and had a thorough conversation with someone who knew about the game I wasn't able to play and was very helpful it making other troubleshoots but it was to no end. It's specifically servers that connect people together in small groups like teamspeak and 5 v 5 games league, strife, but not mmo's or other massive server based games. I have not thought about the problem being a virus. it seemed like such a narrow problem that a virus wouldn't seem to have any goal in the end. if it killed my connection completely than that would make sense but only specific types of connections? thank you so much for ur help. ups on every thing

I left one idea off the table. Use at your own risk.
Mar 16, 2015 9:21AM PDT

Since it's considered mandatory to have a full backup of the HDD, along with how to reinstall the OS and more, I will now reveal one last thing.

Put this PC into the DMZ entry of the router.

Yes that is dangerous but it's what some folk must do to gain full access. HOWEVER if the trouble is on the other side then this won't fix their problems. Again, if they have a network issue you can't fix that!

A lot of people are having this kind of problem. It doesn't seem to have a solution

So it's a design bug in the game?
Mar 16, 2015 9:40AM PDT

That explains it.

NO NO NO NO NO
Mar 16, 2015 7:23PM PDT

its not league of legends faults. Multiple games do it. It's mainly games or programs that connect small amounts of people together like most mobas and teamspeak.

So it's an endemic bug.
Mar 17, 2015 12:00AM PDT

Sorry I took it as a bug caused by your own setup. Not one that people experience widely due to a programming issue or limitation.

I unsubscribed to this one. Why? You left out detail and are chasing after one of the issues gamers are chasing. Good luck with that.
