Can't connect to schools e-mail system to get my messages

I'm running a Dell Dimension with Windows XP home / sp2 with all updates. I can not access the schools e-mail system with this computer - for some reason it seems as if it's blocked access. If I connect my laptop to this connection there is no problem getting on. I've called the schools help desk and they ran me through all of the security settings and tried to get me in by adding the address to my trusted sites and still no luck. Any ideas.
