Can't Connect HP TouchSmart to Dell Printer

Hello,
This should be a fairly easy process, but I'm not able print on my Dell Photo AIO Printer 962. My laptop is a HP TouchSmart tx2-1375dx Notebook. I have installed the drivers by plugging the printer into my Notebook.

What would be stopping it from connecting? My notebook basically acts like it's going to print, then I look in the que and it doesn't show anything in it and the printer doesn't make a peep.

Please help!

Most of the printers I've installed have me install the printer drivers by some download before plugging in the USB cables. My only thought here is what you wrote sounds incorrect.

Well, I can say that what I wrote is not incorrect. I plugged in the cord from the printer to my laptop and my laptop showed that the driver was found and I had it download it.

When it didn't work, I went to the Dell website (since it is a Dell printer) and found the driver and downloaded it that way (again,) to see if it didn't download properly before.

Needless to say, it is still not working. I'm not sure if anyone else has the new HP Touchsmart laptop, but I really could use some help.
