Can't burn music to a CD from Itunes

I have a Dell (about 4 yr old) and it stopped burning my music to CD's from Itunes. It starts to burn then gives me the message (4450). I just tried again and no message but only burned the first 4 songs. Any ideas. We almost bought a new dics burner but was told to look at the operating system first/ HELP. we use XP
