Can't BOOT into MACBOOK PRO! Shortcuts don't work!!

Oct 15, 2014 10:39PM PDT

Greetings,
I have a MACBOOK PRO 2008. I cant boot into it. All startup keyboard shortcuts dont work except for OPTION which reveals my LION BOOT STICK and RECOVERY HD. On first try i was able to get into first aid which indicated a repair was necessary. Hard drive then dissappears after VERIFY and i cant repair it in that session. I try again but this time get the grey bar slash thingy. I reset the PRAM. Nothing. White screen. I try again with OPTION during boot but get the grey lady after it sees LION STICK and RECOVERY HD. I could really use some help!

you absolutely have to have the MacBook Pro booted from some other source, like a DVD or a Flash Drive

you have never been able to repair a HD, on a Mac, that you booted from.

Go with the Recovery option and see what path that takes you down
