put the cd as first boot device make sure dvd is in drive BEFORE starting machine disable floppy as well. its possible the dvd itself is no good. or the drive master boot record is gone. try getting a copy of gparted live to test drive remember cd drive first then hdd.
i just built a new computer and can't boot windows 7 or anything. I just get a screen that says something like there is no boot device, reboot and or insert a boot disk. I have tried literally everything i can think of. I put the disk drive as the first in the boot order, I've switched SATA ports, I put in my old hard drive and loaded xp but I still can't do anything, it says that it isn't compatable like it is thinking that my old hardware is in my new machine. I've tried different disks, everything. please help, I'm at a complete loss
