Can't Access Windows Firwall

Dec 19, 2012 1:13PM PST

Sorry if this shows up in two different posts. I can't find my original post. i get an error message [due to unidentified problem, windows cannot display windows firewall settings] this also came at the same time as inability to copy and paste to notepad or drag and drop between folders. upon a recent reboot the norton asked if i wanted to turn off the windows firewall. i had not seen this error until 2 days ago. norton recently found a driver.exe file to be a threat and killed the bug. may be a coincidence of timing.

May be OK.

Norton's suite could have replaced the firewall. I can't know your choices on that.

Windows firewall was always available

Until recently i could go in at will to see the win firewall settings. the only reason i tried to access it was in response to the Norton question. i answered no and wanted to check first as i suspected malware issues. i will try to restore to previous date hoping that i do not restore a virus in the process. any thoughts about the copy and paste issue? thanks for your reply.

Copy and paste fails a lot today.

There are far too many reasons for it to fail from the antivirus suite's privacy settings to apps such as Skype click to call feature. You have to know your machine a lot better today it seems.
