Can someone please explain the change in score?

Hello,
I purchased a T42 . That is not very interesting but what is is the fact that I looked through CNET about 50 times a day when searching for the right laptop, and I was about to purchase the Sony FS570 until I read the review. Then I shifted over to an IBM. CNET gave an 8.1 score to all T42's and now only the biometric security has an 8.1 and the rest have a 6.6 editor review. Even though there is a drastic change there is no explanation as to why the score went down, and it is still cnet recommended. As a loyal cnet reader I would like to know please why the score was reduced to 6.6. does anyone know?
