It does NOTHING & all it can do is just add intereferance into the image. Best to just run the HDMI stright to the tv (less to go wronge) & a toslink or analog's from the DVD or bluray player to the receiver for audio.
& if you need more HDMI ports just get a HDMI switching box, cost $28-89 depending if you want HDMI 1.3 & also how many ports.
I am currently researching Onkyo SR800 home theater system.
One reviewer at the Circuitcity website wrote "This is a great system for the price but this system will not process the sound off the HDMI ports. When you use the HDMI ports you must use a second audio input to get the sound out to your speakers"
The specifications of this system says it has 2 hdmi inputs and 1 output. Looks like the inputs are pass through. I dont want to spend a lot on the home theaters and this falls within my range.
Can someone suggest what this passthrough hdmi is and if there is a work around.
