Question

Can someone help me? My android phone is acting funny.

by Mr_redglass / November 20, 2011 4:27 AM PST

I have a htc hero acting up on me. It seems something is wrong with the htc sense app on it because everytime I try to do something on it now it reboots or force closes by saying the app htc sence isn't working right and needs to close or something like that.

Forget themes. Uninstall a few apps and reboot.

Your back and your in the Android forum, good stuff.

Take Bob's advice, simplify. Get rid of unnecessary free apps, you can always get them back.

But get Privacy Inspector, at the Android Market. This program will open your eyes to what you think you need and what you really need. Depending on how many apps you have it takes a while to initially setup. Trust me it's worth it. Just beware that some of your trusted programs may score high, like your antivirus app.

At first I used the information to get rid of useless duplicate apps that scored high. Now I mainly use it as a guideline when I can't decide between two apps. There is a Privacy Inspector Forum as well.

Well thanks for the advice and I might try to simplify it a little more but I do try to simplify all the time. I got all apps I like on my phone. It has a good 14 MB of 159MB it says free on it right now which is usually ok so I sort of wonder if an app I recently downloaded did damage somehow and glitched it because it was working fine till I installed that one app. It was the biggest app of all my apps but I really wanted it so I'm thinking that's what did it. I did uninstall it but my phone is still messing up. I will try simplifying and making some more room though and see if that does any good.

159MB?

Sounds slim and my Evo 4G has over 100MB free so I wonder if running this down so low is part of the problem.

Can you reduce that or move stuff to SD card space?

I tried but the only way is if I sacrifice apps I like

In reply to: 159MB?

I do conserve and pay attention to my apps and how much space they take vs. what they do. I go through the app manager and a app that shows me how much space I have on my phone and SD with options to back up or uninstall apps all the time but.

Today's apps are getting piggy.

While that's a discussion in itself, we have other discussions about how the phone is possibly a person's PC. And what happens next.

Good work on your part so far. And may I write again that themes and animated wallpaper continue to be performance hogs.
