Can Someone Help Me Finding a Decent Camera? (Detail inside)

Jun 2, 2009 12:08AM PDT

Hey guys, I'm a bidding film maker and looking for a decent camcorder for filming shorts with friends. I recently lost my Vado HD, which was an impulse purchase for my media work at school.

But since it's lost, i've decided to go for a proper camera, with bells and whistles, and i've come up with this list :

- Built in Memory (pref. SD, no HDD / pref not sony pro duo either, but thats not really a big issue)
- Be HD - 720p is good enough for me, i don't have anything thats Full HD, i'm scared i'll lose picture quality downscaling with FCE
- Has to work with FCE - Make it mac friendly
- Take decent enough Stills, nothing spectaculer, but when i'm going places i don't want to take a camera aswell
- Strong Low-Light conditions - we don't particulary have GOOD light at the best of times
- Have a decent enough battery life
- Be able to connect straight to mac (one camera you had to take the battery out >_>, with the vado you had to copy the files to the mac HDD, then put in FCE)
- Manual controls (focus etc.)

Sounds like i'm being really fussy, but i tend to be when buying thigns that cost lots of moolah

- If it had a great slo-mo shooting mode, that would be great, one that records HD however (samsung camcorder only did slo-mo in SD)
- Have a Flash / some sort of torch feature
- 24p shooty mode - me and friends want to make filmy looking films during

Them 3 above aren't really important, although would be nice to have them included, i can change a couple with FCE (although, quality loss?) and i can take a proper torch, but it's all about convinience really

I don't think i've forgotten anything - I like being thorough

Thanks for any help guys !!!!

P.s - i have found :

Canon HF10
Samsung H106

The canon i can find cheapest for
