If you have an old analog camcorder that recorded to Hi8 or VHS-(C) tapes, you cannot digitize (convert it to digital) in order to edit them or burn onto a DVD (through a computer). A computer only uses digital. This feature is only important if you have an old analog camcorder or other analog device.
The analog to digital feature in the digital camcorder will let you hook up that old camcorder (if you have one) to the digital one so you can use the computer for editing (and storage) of the tape if necessary.
I'm thinking about buying the New Canon ZR850 or the last year! Canon Elura! Can somebody tell which one should be better? And on the ZR850 Specifications it said this:
ZR850's lack of an analog-to-digital converter. If you're looking for a way to convert analog video to digital, you'll have to look elsewhere.
