You know what your old system has and can do or won't do. Now compare that to a new basic/entry level PC from the likes of HP or Compaq. Now, review any games requirements will be and match the system to those requirements.
You've been gone too long, so nothing is salvageable(to a degree) from old system other than back-up system. A basic system now has at least duo core cpu, 2gb ram, 256mb video(video card) and refrain from "on-board" video and all the ports needed plus win7. That alone makes the upgrade worthwhile.

Years ago, I could build a system and understand the components... I've not kept up with the times and do not know where I stand.
Should I upgrade, if so, what would you suggest?
Or... should I replace?
I want to play some of the newer games, Cities XL for instance at a higher (highest?) resolution.
This system has had a few upgrades (RAM, CPU, Video Card).
System info:
HP Workstation XW4100 (Tiger Station)
Intel Pent 4 CPU 3.00 Ghz
Memory 2560 RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT, 256 MB
I hope that is enough information to solicit your advice and any advice would be greatly appreciated.
