Can only access internet in safe mode.

by marc.bills / November 27, 2009 11:25 PM PST

So, I bought a laptop for school, and thats all I use it for. But all of a sudden I turned it on, and I cant connect to the internet. I'm assigned an IP address, and can ping my default gateway and my wireless status even says "internet". But, I cannot make any connection. SO i started it up in safe mode and what do ya know. I can use internet. This makes me think maybe a virus? Because I don't really haven't put anything on this computer, and only use it at school, and home for homework.

Computer:
Dell Studio 15
Windows 7

Anti virus programs

The new avg doesn't detect half of the viruses on your computer to try and con you into buying the premium version I think it's called. You'll be better off with something like avira which I know soemtimes is an extremely fast at scanning but if a computer is badly infected it can take awhile. Put it this way when I used it on my DSB's (dreaded step brother) computer it took 16 hours something. Another good one would be avast but I wouldn't trust avg and also avg can be a ****** to get off your system. The best way to uninstall it is via their own website.
