Can Office Assistant auto-open?

Nov 15, 2005 8:08AM PST

I know a lot of people hate the Office Assistant, but I like having it down there...especially if I choose one of the goofier ones that does something funny every so often.

When I upgraded from Office2000 to OfficeXP, I noticed immediately that the Office Assistant no longer automatically appears.

What do I need to change in order to keep it always-up?

Set a checkmark in Help>Show Office Assistent. It will certainly show the Office Assistent, but it might be that it's only for this run of the program and doesn't stick. Tell what you find.

Help> Show Office Assistant makes the office assistant stick.
Only, the next time you re-open MS Word, you must start typing something into a new document (or an old one, for that matter) to make the office assistant re-appear.

In my Word, there are no checkboxes; it's just a toggle, either "Show" or "Hide". Every time I open Word, it's set back to "Show" (with the assistant hidden). Typing in the document does not automatically make it appear.

Yeah, and I want my Einstein back, too.
