Can not connect to the internet

May 23, 2005 11:42PM PDT

Hi, I just recently purchased the HP a1034n computer with 200GB hard drive and 1GB memory and can not connetct to the internet. I get a message saying "can not recognize internet connection" and "this page can not be displayed". I have optimum online and when I hook up to my previous computer which is also XP, I can connect just fine. I made sure all of my internet options are enabled but still no luck. I have 7 more days to return the unit but thought it might be just a simple thing that's preventing me to connect VIA internet. I never had a problem like this before on any computers I bought in the past. Has anyone experienced the smae problem?

Thanks!

I stated in my post that I have Optimum Online which is CABLE!! I read the red print on top before I posted. I figured it out anyway...bad modem. Taking it back to Best Buy to exchange for another one.

Thanks anyway

Not every forum member is familiar with every particular ISP provider. Maybe you can return your attitude also!

Just gave him what he asked for in return since he was being sarcastic, especially with the numerous question marks that followed his post...was that called for?..no...an attitude?...yes

cheers.

Optimum was a dialup provider in BC, Canada at one time.

If you can't share details, that's OK.
