Recently I purchased a 51inch Samsung PN51D450 Plasma TV for my Dad.
He is 85 years old and lives in an Assisted Living Home. He is also hard of hearing and I was thinking of hooking up some Headphones to the TV.
However, after looking at the rear of this TV I found out that it doesn't have a regular RCA (Red and White) Audio out connection. I guess Samsung really cut some corners on this TV. The only Audio out is an Optical connection which won't work headphones. Most all of their other TV's have a standard Audio Out connection but this Samsung TV does not.
So I guess the only way to hook up headphones is to purchase a Receiver and hook the Receiver into the TV's only Optical Output and then hook the Headphones in to the Receiver. If I had known this I would have spend a little more and bought a TV with standard Audio Outputs.
Oh Well, I guess you get what you pay for.
