Your wireless router is always broadcasting a signal when it is turned on. Your laptop should be able to connect to your router assuming you have wireless card for your laptop. Read your laptop owners manual about connecting to wireless networks. Updating the firmware for your router may help your connection problem (although no guarantee)
Note: If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem
I bought a wireless adapter for a laptop for vacation last year and that all seemed to work fine....when I got home I had no access point so I just put the card away....then I got Verizon DSL and the modem/router has a wireless connection...which I can usually use....but every so often I need to reboot the modem so I can connect....is there a way around this or what do you think may be the problem.....I have never set up a network or anything other than what XP may have done on its own.
I do not use this much but I am trying to bookmark some hotels and such for an upcoming vacation...I do not want to do anything to the laptop so it may not work on vacation, as that is when I use the laptop for S&T and some Email and photo storage.
Thanks
