Question

Can nofollow links hurt my site's ranking?

I'm building links, not for SEO but to try and generate direct traffic, if these links are no-follow am i safe from getting any Google penalties? Asked another way, can no-follow links hurt my site?

Remember that no one but Google knows why. This is why you try it and test to see what effects it has.

No one but Google knows. Any "SEO expert" that tells you otherwise is not telling you the truth. They can guess but they can't know.

NoFollow links on your blog that point of the site is not hurting you.

Well, It dont hurt. Many top websites changed their outbound links as No follow.

It would sure get hurt if you are spamming it, no matter whether it is dofollow or nofollow.

Hi

Nofollow links do not necessarily harm your site's ranking, but they also do not help in your ranking. But keep in mind, any links on the internet can bring new visitors to your website, so they are always worth it.

Actually nofollow links does not hurt your site ranking, but doing it worthless while it doesn't passes any of your site link, beside it, it doesn't ranking up your site. This is why you need to do your work with dofollow links, by this way link juice can be pass.
