Question

Can motherboard cause the colour of laptop display?

May 3, 2019 1:33PM PDT

Hello i have a lenovo b570 laptop. I recently replaced my laptop screen and also bought new display cable. But screen colours are bluish, i mean there is no proper white colour only bluish. I also checked my laptop by connecting it to external monitor and everything works fine. So i showed my laptop to computer expert and he is saying that this problem is because of motherboard circuit short. So i just want to ask that can some short circuit of motherboard cause colour of laptop screen?

Answer
It's possible.

But this is where a repair depot has it all over us. They can swap in another to be sure. The internal display doesn't use the same circuits as the external so while it's an OK test it really doesn't tell us much.

Just adding a known issue. I run into folk that don't replace the LCD or lid with the EXACT same model. They are beyond help. That is, no one, even the maker will tell you that's OK.

if with the external monitor you can use the computer as normal without any problems, then I would have to say the new screen or cable. I do not know enough about laptop motherboards to really know. maybe there is an issue with the graphic adapter. were they oem for that specific laptop or are you using a different screen?
