Can I use DVD player with PC?

Dec 9, 2004 9:39AM PST

What I mean is, can I connect a dvd player to my pc so i can watch with the monitor instead of a tv screen?

I once saw a pc playing dvd movies using a dvd player (not dvd rom drive) Do I need a special kind of monitor or adapter?

Thanks everyone

You need a TV/video card. This is a PCI or AGP slot card with TV inputs. The higher end cards also have pure A/V and S-video inputs. Or you can get a USB unit. Do a search at any good web computer store and search for tuner cards.

Some cards come with software to turn your PC into a Tivo using the HD as storage and all the bells and whistles. With a CD or DVD burner you can burn what you watch to optical media.

Good luck,

Can I ask why you would do this? Does the computer not have a DVD drive?
