Resolved Question

Can I show recorded content from a PVR on a tablet?

May 11, 2015 11:37PM PDT

My TV has broken and I'm thinking of getting a tablet. Would I be able to plug the tablet into the PVR and show recordings and off-air (not on-line) programmes on the tablet?

Only if the PVR allows for such.

I don't see which PVR so I can't check into that.

Hi Bob,
It's a Panasonic DMR-BWT700. Thank you for your interest.

This 2011 model looks to be this one (manual of it follows.)

NOTHING alludes to provide a direct path to what you are asking for. The only path I see is to create DVDs from the content, then off to a PC to rip them with HANDBRAKE to a file ready for your tablet to play.

Again, I see no mention of any method to do what you asked or what I noted here. The path I noted is one I learned years ago from the web.

Sadly I would need a TV on this to make the DVDs.

Yes. That is even more difficult than it sounds. I can't drive the PVR without a monitor.

I was hoping for a tablet with an input HDMI socket.

LOL. That looks like a tablet too big to swallow. It costs about the same as a TV, and anyway I can't find it for sale in the UK.

My computer set-up is a three-screen worktop, a rarely-used laptop and an Android-based phone, again rarely used because of signal problems.

I think I'll just get a small monitor with DVI or similar input. I see that there are adaptor plugs to convert from HDMI to DVI.

Thanks again for your help,

So out of 3 screens not one is HDMI capable?
