I can boot my XP cd and head to the recovery console (research new words on google as asking what the recovery console would be a frequently asked question that has been answered) and then I can run chkdsk from that.
Or google this -> How to install the XP recovery console?
I seem to have some errors on my C: drive. I have three partitions, each with windows XP OS installed. When I try to check C: from the C: based OS, it tells me I can't and would I like to check it next time I restart. I have said yes many times, but it never checks when I restart. I thought I could check C: from one of the other OS's, but I get the same message - windows needs exclusive access to C:, would I like to check on restart. Anyone have any idea why windows wouldn't have exclusive access to C: when I'm running an install based on D: or E:? What can I do to scan and correct the errors on C:?
