IDE is completely different from SATA. You would just say SATA drive, or IDE drive.

H/D interface Serial -- Parallel

In reply to: Can I say Sata HDD as IDE HDD.

To fully understand the interfaces between Serial and parallel (IDE/ATA) hard drives will require reading.

In Google copy and paste these search terms

define: serial interface

define: parallel interface

define: ide

history: ide

history: hard drive

SATA drive ARE IDE drives, but

In reply to: Can I say Sata HDD as IDE HDD.

not 40 pin. Some BIOSes include them in the normal drive section of the BIOS unless they are configured in a RAID array.

IDE simply means "Integrated Drive Electronics", which means that the controller for the drive is on a circuit card in the Hard drive itself. Many years ago this was not so. IDE does NOT equal ATA exactly anymore, basically ATA is now PATA [parallel] and SATA [serial].

Thus, the fact IS that the thing on the mobo called the controller is NOT a contoller. My name is not Ripley but believe it or not. LOL
