Can i safely disable AVG Safe search

Internet exp is running real slow, say's AVG Safe search is doing it & gave me the option to disable AVG Safe search, if i do disable does that mean my comp is not covered against viruses etc, you may be aware i am not comp savvy!

Hello angelinajolly01,

Please make sure you are using latest AVG 2012 program version at first and no other protection application are not running (because of possible conflict and slowdown).

You can find more information about AVG Safe Search (alias AVG Search-Shield) in our FAQ.

From my point of view, AVG Safe Search can be safely disabled in case AVG Resident Shield (Anti-Virus component, checking files for known infection), AVG Identity Protection (behavioral detection) and AVG Surf-Shield (LinkScanner component, detection of exploits in webpage source codes) components are enabled and active.
