Why not backup your email and such so you can go back? How is on the web so I'll stop here.
Also, why not do like many and install Thunderbird and again, use the web for details on how to import email from the older app.
As to using two email apps, that's usually OK but in this case it's from MSFT and I worry they might do something odd like disable the old app.

Hi
I'm new here. Here's the situation:
- I have a desktop with Windows 7 but am running Windows Mail (instead of Live Mail). The Window Mail program (with thousands of old email messages sorted into file folders) was imported over to my current computer because I knew I did not like Windows Mail.
- Starting a couple of days ago, Windows Mail started crashing whenever I click on an email received from a certain server (crashes even if an email containing that particular server address is forwarded to Windows Mail).
- I have a laptop with Windows 7 running Windows Live mail. Live mail does NOT crash when I click on those particular email messages.
- I have tried to export my old Windows Mail folders from my desktop into Windows Live Mail on my laptop but this import is disastrous. The file folder names are all wrong (look odd). I suspect this is because Windows Mail does not give me the option of exporting messages into Windows Live Mail format, so they are exported in Windows Mail format, which is wrong for Windows Live Mail.
- I've read that Windows Live Mail, when downloaded to a computer, will automatically transfer over Windows Mail messages and folders, but I am afraid to download and try this on my desktop, in case everything screws up as it did when I tried to export Windows Mail messages in folders to the Live Mail program on my laptop.
- So, can I download Windows Live Mail for my desktop and see if it will import Windows Mail folders etc from my desktop, WITHOUT losing the Windows Mail messages and folders that already exist?
Sorry if this question is complicated or stupid!
If you read this far, thank you very much. All suggestions are appreciated.
Does anyone know why Windows Mail would suddenly start crashing when I highlight messages from one particular server? The server is on the safe senders list, so this doesn't make sense to me.
