Can I retreve saved passwords

Jan 7, 2006 2:00AM PST

Can I retreve saved passwords that I accidently deleted from Mozilla Firefox 1.0.7?

I accidently went to delete one password and clicked on the wrong button. I removed all my passwords. If there is a way to get these back, it would be easier than entering them all again one by one.

Thanks

Rick

Not likely...

Rick,

Your saved usernames and passwords are stored in the file signons.txt (in an encrypted form, not plain text) in the profile directory (local drive:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\random characters.default). Firefox does not back this file up automatically, so unless you backed up your profile previously (you can restore that one file), your only option is to re-enter them one by one.

Sorry,
John

I tried

I tried to locate using passwords as a search and could not find anything. I do believe you are right, you CANNOT retreve lost passwords in Mozilla Firefox.

I did not have many, but is is a pain trying to re-enter them once you lost them. I really don't know some of them until I visit the website (the rare ones that I hardly visit) until I get another email from them.

I have most of them in a folder and have to look them up. The important ones I keep on a disk.

Thanks for your help

Rick
