Can I retreive IM"s And WebCam from my computer?

Aug 17, 2005 8:44AM PDT

I know there are bad people out there that misuse things but I have had a couple of fun chats with out of state family and am curious: do these store on my machine and can I retrieve?
Also,my wife was on web cam today. Can I recover this? I would like to. She is spending time with our grandkids and I saw them on cam. She is bringing pics home next week, but I would love to get web cam footage. By the way, I am running win98SE and messengar is Yahoo.
Thank you

Chat and web cam are dynamic. They are there only for the session, they're not stored anywhere.

I found I can save the text from messenger into files at end of each session. Some things are easier to save as text file than to write down at the time (such as what flight and time of her return as an example). I had heard that spyware can capture IM so I was worried. I hate spyware.
Is there a legit program I can get to save from her web cam for later veiwing?

Went to suggested URL. An hour later had snagit program (10 megs on dialup). It works great. Thanks a lot. I like the program well enough that I will buy it when trial period is over. Once again, thank you.

MSN Messenger 7 has the following...

that may be of interest if using that software. Under the MSN Messenger window go to Tools>Options>Messages... In the Messages window check out the ''Messages History'' section to see if any of that is what you want.

Try Camtasia
Aug 21, 2005 11:08AM PDT

I was looking for a capture program. A moderator here at C-Net named R. Profitt ( hope I spelled it right) recomended Camtasia. I found it thru google and it is good. Another one that I tried and like is CamGrab-2SE. This one is from UK, 7 day trial, works even with win95, and will give seperate images. Try it out
The helpfull people here are great. Moderators and contributers are real helpfull. Good luck
