Question

Can I replace my front panel power switch cord?

Apr 26, 2015 6:22AM PDT

Hello everyone. I'm pretty inexperienced with all this, so if you can dumb-down the information for me a bit. Basically, here's what's up. I got one of my old computers (Compaq Presario SR215ONX Windows Vista) and attempted to turn it on. When I plug the power cord into the back of the computer, the solid green light comes on, but when i press the power switch on the front of my computer, absolutely nothing happens. I'm able to remove the end of the cord that connects to the front panel of my computer easily, but I'm unsure of how to remove the cord that connects directly to the motherboard. So, my question is, can I safely remove this part so that I can replace it, or do I need to get it done professionally?
Here is a link to the piece I am trying to remove. The connection on the left side of the picture is what my question is about. Thank you.

This looks fairly easy as computer repairs go.

Looks entirely mechanical. So if you are comfortable, then you do it.
