Hey all,
New to the forums. Not too long ago my brother's computer (which contains a lot of my files) got wrecked by the "paytoc4gtpn5cz12.optionstorpay22 dot com" virus. (I do not recommend going to that website, but there are couple of articles online about it.) Basically, it made all files on the computer such as mp3, video, and picture files unable to open, wanting us to pay to have them restored. The computer was taken to a computer place and had the virus removed, however the files are still damaged.
I was wondering if the files could be repaired using any kind of restoration methods. I am not well informed on software and such so I do not want to download stuff blindly. I also wasn't sure if the virus may have simply changed something in the file properties that would prevent it from opening.
My brother is desperate and would love some help with these issues. Ask for any more details if necessary.
We have Windows 7 Home Premium on an Acer X1420G (64 bit operating system.)
Thank you all,
Chris
