Can I play pc games on a MBP with bc and Windows???

Jun 9, 2007 12:54PM PDT

Wondering, if I installed windows XP or Vista on a MBP using bootcamp, could I play PC games, like Battlefield 2142, or Flight Simulator X, etc. And will pc controllers work with the MBP while running windows. Thanks

ps: Does it really matter what version of XP or Vista I get, as I don't want to spend a ton of money on another os. Would Vista basic work. Thanks

Absolutely. No doubt!

The MBP has the chops to do this.

As to the PC controllers, when you bootcamp... it's a PC so should no more trouble than any other PC.

Thanks, no what about security??

What should I do for security with when in bootcamp PC mode. Should I purchase some security software to install or should I just leave it be. Also, which OS of windows should I get, XP, or Vista. I know there are a few problems playing games with Vista, has that been resolved. Thanks

Security is same as any other PC.

You turned it into a PC so all the usual security applies. I will not duplicate ongoing discussions but will just share what I'm using.

1. I never use IE unless I have to.
2. I don't install IE 7 or WMP 11 unless it's forced.
3. I installed Free AVG and Zone Alarm (free).
4. I use any non-IE based browser.

I experience none of the issues your read about from our members.

XP, not vista

bootcamp not totally vista ready. XP plays games faster than Vista. The only thing Vista has going for it is DirectX 10. Games don't use that, yet.

and the faster 15" MBP has twice the video ram as the slower 15" MBP.
