We solved this years ago and continue to cheat when this happens. We'll find a supported OS on another PC and install the printer there.

Then and remember our office is filled with programmers set up a shared folder to drop items into that need printing. If you need a .doc printed you drop a copy of the document into the shared folder and it's printed.

Again, not your usual solution but it works.
