Question

Can I just use HijackThis to scan for suspicious programs?

Aug 20, 2012 2:04AM PDT

I've looked at the tutorial and I plan to post the results on this forum just to make sure that there aren't any programs on here, because I have my suspicions.

HJT isn't the only tool used "these days"..

TLC..

There had been a time when the Malware Removal forums, depended heavily on HJT. It's no longer the case.

I was about to reply, after reading your original post. I believe the decision not to analyze logs came about for various reasons. I wasn't a mod in 2007, so I'm not 100% sure why the decision was made. But if I had to venture a guess, I would think they wanted to make sure those analyzing logs were adequately trained. It might also have been (partly) due to the (potential) time involved helping one member. Don't quote me! It's only a couple of guesses.

While I wouldn't mind taking a look at it, I fear if I make an exception for you, it wouldn't be fair to those who may follow with the same request. Sad

If you wish to tell us what issues you're experiencing, we would certainly do our best to resolve them. If not, there's a list of forums on the left-hand side of this page. Presently, I'm unable to access it.

If the link doesn't work for you, here's just a few. Only choose one:

http://www.spywareinfoforum.com/index.php?/forum/18-malware-removal/
http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showforum=7
http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=30
http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/forum/37-virus-spyware-malware-removal/

Your choice as to what you care to do.

I have no problems, everything's normal, I just want to see if there's any keylogger software or anything before I continue using my keyboard for entering passwords and such, since I know HJT can find those types of software.
See I've been plugging USB's into school computers [high school] and I've discovered keyloggers on them. Just want to make sure they haven't transferred over to my computer.

And I know there's programs out there to combat those.

But HJT is advanced if I'm correct.
