1. It will take up the space of two PCI slots. For me, I'd get a card that is not as wide and there are many with the same specs. This card has good outputs so be sure your monitor will accept either DVI or HDMI.
2. If you can open the case, yes.
3. It will come with everything, be sure you read the directions. You will need to go into the PC BIOS and disable the onboard video so the PC doesn't default to it.
4. You open the case and plug it it. After you read and understand the procedure supplied with the card. Most hardware say to install the software then power off and plug in the card. At this time on reboot you will probably need to go to the BIOS and disable the onboard (intergrated) video card. After you restart the PC should find the device and install the drivers.
!!!!!!! Read the directions !!!!!!
Hi everyone...this is my first post here.
Now, I'm a total computer noob. I love to play games, and I'm good at USING a computer, but when it comes to computer specs...I have no clue.
Now, this is the computer I have. http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/hp-pavilion-a6750y/4505-3118_7-33529089.html?tag=rnav
I want to slowly start upgrading, and building my own PC...but at the moment, I really want to update my graphics card. I've been told by my friends that if I update the graphics card on this computer, it will be more than capable of running most games at high settings.
This is the card I'm thinking about buying: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150447
So here are my questions...
1) Is that a good video card? I don't need anything top of the line (if I can run World of Warcraft at max graphics I'll be happy).
2) Can I install that video card in my PC?
3) What else would I need in order to install it?
4) How do I install it?
Thanks in advance!
