Can I get web sites to fit window?

Mar 3, 2004 10:42PM PST

More and more updated web sites (like MSN, Yahoo) no longer open up to fit my desktop window. I have to scroll side to side to see the whole screen. Is there a way to get them to open up to fit the screen? Running win95 and I.E. 4.0. on a Compaq preserio 4540.

More and more websites are hard coded to larger screens. More pixels and such.

Worth noting that with the MICROSOFT CODE LEAK (reference news article at http://news.com.com/2100-7355_3-5160566.html ) found EXPLOITABLE issues.

Right or wrong, your usage of a dated OS and browser may find your machine take the plunge into a truly wierd conniption fit someday.

Best of luck with what you have.

Why are you even on the internet???

Nope, not questioning your right to be here, I am questioning what you are using!

Windows 95 stopped getting support two years ago, and hasn't had patches for the plethora of security risks discovered since.

Microsoft has just announced it is better to use IE6 because even IE5.x can't be considered secure any longer. Yet here you are using long-time unsupported, unpatched IE4.

Seriously, if you value your machine and your data, you urgently need to upgrade your OS and browser, then get some defences installed. You are taking foolish risks until you do.
