Can I do this upgrade???

by jaymel276 / January 31, 2009 2:42 AM PST

Hi, I'm new here and am needing to upgrade my PC (which is a Dell Dimension 4700). I've already increased RAM to 1.5 GB and have ordered a 250GB hard drive to add to the 80GB one that's already in this one (and full). I've also ordered a ASUS EAH3450/HTP/512M Radeon HD 3450 512MB 64-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready Video Card. I want to make sure - will both of these work in my computer without a motherboard upgrade? I apologize if this is a dumb question - I am brave enough to try to install upgrades --- but not knowledgeable enough to know if they'll actually work I'll be happy to show you my current hardware if you'll show me how to find it

I think this looks like what my PC came with - but like I said I've increased the RAM to 1.5GB:

Thank you for your patience~

GPU should work although I'm not sure about the wattage requirements for that video card (GPU) and the PSU in your Dell.

Re hard drives...did you buy an SATA or PATA HDD ?

Is the existing CD-DVD SATA or PATA ?

The one that's on the way is:
Western Digital Caviar RE WD2500YD 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM

All I know about what's in the PC right now is what I get from my Dell account:
1 4D353 Hard Drive,80G,Native Command Queueing,7.2K,8M,Lead Free Maxtor Sabre
Does that tell you anything about it? Can you tell me where to look?

Thanks so much!
