Question

Can I do this?

Oct 18, 2011 4:04AM PDT

I am not a person that is "up-to-date" with technology so I need you to explain this in clear terms if possible. My dad has a Dish Network 722 VIP DVR that has a football game that we want to keep forever. It was recorded in HD (so it may require a little more space) but we want to put it on a USB jump drive or hook the DVR up to a computer so we can edit it and then burn it to a CD. Is that possible? How many gigabites would it take to hold a file that is about 4 hours long? Thanks for your help.

This DVD from DISH does not support a save to USB.

It might be possible to hook up to some OLD VHS or OLD STANDARD DEFINITION DVD RECORDER and record it.

The easy way: play it to an external HD DVD (Blue Ray?) recorder and record. Although, if it was protected content, even that probably won't work.

Is there a "copy to other device" option in the menu structure of that DVR? That would be easy to find either by trying or by studying the manual. Do you have a link to the manual?
