Of course you can do this. How to do this is something of a bigger problem.
All skill levels show up here. You may be a programmer or are on dial up and can't look to see if there's an app for this.
While I use SYNCBACK I didn't check to see if it still works on this OS. But it is a nice tool.
Be sure to google "backup in real time."

I have a desktop computer with Windows ME. I also have a laptop computer with Windows XP. I have two external hard-drives; one a Western Digital and one a Lacie. I also have several memory sticks that get assigned a drive letter when i plug them in. What i want to do is to be able to work on my files and folders that are on my desktop computer and make changes or additions or delete certain things while at the same time this would also be going on with all of my other devices at the same time. Is there any software or backup program that does this? (In essence i want one computer to be the master and the others to be slaves.) Can i set this up also so that i can assign any one of these devices to be the master and the rest the slaves? - As is, with all of these devices i'm tired of double-checking everything all the time. It's a giant headache and always a task.
