Can I disable F1=Help in Excel?

Jul 27, 2004 6:59AM PDT

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if there was a way to disable the F1 key from invoking help in MS Excel. I almost never use the help, and often I hit F1 by accident when I hit F2 to edit. I then have to wait for the help to open so I can close it and go on working.

Even if I could map it to a different key (like CTRL+F1) and make it so F1 didn't do anything I'd be happy. We were talking around the office and there are several users that would like to do this, so I figured I'd post and see if anyone knew of a solution.

Thanks,

Gary

1. pop it off with a screwdriver

2. remove the spring and put the cap back on.

Excellent!

I just popped that into personal.xls and it worked like a charm. I put the disable part in so it works every time I start Excel, and then put both of them into a regular module so I could enable it to use help if I needed and then disable it again when done.

Thanks a ton!
